Superficially resembling its more famous northern cousin, the Joshua tree, Yucca valida is from the central and southern deserts of Baja California. Multiple unbranching stems arise from the typically sandy soil. We have grown this plant in the ground in Tucson, but it is susceptible to severe frost damage below 25F and root rot. These plants are seedlings in one-gallon pots.
